Back to FileSystem Class Summary

Availability
Windows, Mac OSX, Linux

Usage
mdm.FileSystem.deleteFileAsync(pathToFile:String):void

Parameters
pathToFile:String - Path of file to be deleted

Returns
Nothing

Description
Deletes the specified file. This is asynchronous operation. When it completes either "onComplete" or "onIOError" events are delivered to registered listener(s) (or called via assigned handlers: see notes below).

Notes
There are two ways to listen for events in 4.0:
#1
using "onEventNameFunction" - callback based handlers introduced in {mdm} 2.0
#2
using IEventListener model based on Events introduced in 4.0.

No matter what implementation you would use either callback and listener handler would have to use single-argument defintion as in below sample:
// callback based handlers
mdm.Appllication.onAppChangeFocus = function(event:Event):void
{
// proceed with event
};

// handlers based on IEventListener model
function onAppChangeFocusHandler(event:Event):void
{
// proceed with event
};

Example Code
// callback version
mdm.FileSystem.onComplete = function(event:Event):void
{
// operation completed/finished
};
mdm.FileSystem.onIOError = function(event:Event):void
{
// operation failed
};
mdm.FileSystem.deleteFileAsync(pathToFile);

// event-listener implementation
function onCompleteHandler(event:Event):void
{
// operation completed/finished
};
function onIOErrorHandler(event:Event):void
{
// operation failed
};
mdm.FileSystem.addEventListener("onComplete", onCompleteHandler);
mdm.FileSystem.addEventListener("onIOError", onIOErrorHandler);
mdm.FileSystem.deleteFileAsync(pathToFile);
