We spoke with Julian Dolce, Creative Technologist at Fuel Industries,a global interactive gaming and entertainment design company that specializes in advergaming, immersive online marketing, and ideation, the creation of ideas that accelerate brands and businesses. With offices in Ottawa and Toronto, Fuel supports some of the largest brands in Canada and in the United States and have recently incorporated Zinc™ v2 in their New Media Projects.

Bell, one of Canada’s largest telecommunications firms, was launching a new type of cell phone service called 10-4 across Canada. 10-4 is a service that lets you use your cell phone as a walkie-talkie!

Zinc™ v2 was used to build hybrid CD's for Bell.

Reach friends, family and co-workers across the city or across Canada without any long distance charges.

To support the product launch we developed, in conjunction with Grip Limited in Toronto, a Flash website with interactive video actors who explain the features of the phone, and needed to create custom hybrid CD’s of the website that would play on both Mac and PC. The CD’s were included in product boxes.

HOW DID YOU FIND USING Zinc™ v2?

Since our goal was to have the CD’s executable on both Mac and PC platforms, the most useful feature was definitely the ability to transparently create both versions without changing code.

A lot of other SWF2EXE applications handle different platforms in different ways, meaning we would have had to develop separate code for each. Zinc v2 saved us a lot of time and effort!

In addition to its unique cross platform functionality, Zinc has the biggest and best feature set available. Almost as important, the support system and product community are far beyond anyone else out there.

Zinc v2 is our favorite SWF2EXE tool. As we’re developing Flash, we’re going to be using Zinc.
